Jack Shaw

Jack Shaw is a first-chair trial lawyer who focuses on intellectual property and commercial litigation, with experience in fact and expert discoveries, claim constructions, motion practices, and trials. He has litigated cases in district and state courts, as well as before the International Trade Commission (ITC). Jack is also registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office, and is fluent in English, Mandarin, Cantonese, and French.
Jack brings electrical engineering training and experience, and a variety of other technical experience to his clients, including software, AI, mobile app technologies, digital media & entertainment, camera, machine learning, consumer electronics, display, LED, semiconductors, telecommunications, mobile payment, Internet, web, network, medical, chemicals, and mechanical engineering. His other intellectual property experience includes copyright/DMCA, trade dress, and trade secret matters. Jack’s commercial litigation experience includes unfair competition and breach of contract actions.
Prior to his career as an attorney, Jack worked as an engineer at a large Silicon Valley, high-tech company and as a research assistant at a photonics laboratory.
Jack Shaw is the Chair of the IP Committee of the Inter-Pacific Bar Association (“IPBA”). Jack is also a board member of the Asian Pacific American Bar Association of Silicon Valley, as well as a co-chair of its Pro Bono, Judiciary, Intellectual Property, and Data Privacy & Cybersecurity Committees. He has been recognized by Best Lawyers® Ones to Watch for Commercial Litigation and Litigation-Intellectual Property Law, and ranked in the top 2% among Patent Litigation attorneys in the Patexia 2025 Patent Litigation Report. Jack Shaw is also a fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America, a trial lawyer honorary society.
