Mary Margaret is a partner at Cherry Johnson Siegmund James and focuses her practice on transactional work such as estate planning and probate, real estate matters such as purchase/sale agreements, leasing and easement negotiations, loan transactions and financing documentation, and corporate matters such as business formation and structuring, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate governance advising. Mary Margaret has extensive experience in the Texas water and electric industry, having served as general counsel for a number of water supply corporations and electric distribution cooperatives.
Prior to joining Cherry Johnson Siegmund James, Mary Margaret was a founding member of Carpenter & Croft, PLLC, where she managed and grew the law firm for 10 years.
Mary Margaret is locally grown. She and her husband are both Midway High School graduates who went on to stay in Waco while he pursued computer networking at Texas State Technical College and she attended Baylor University. Upon completing law school in Lubbock, Texas, they moved back to Waco, where she has been actively practicing since 2012. Mary Margaret loves Waco and enjoys serving businesses and families to help the greater Waco area grow and thrive. In her spare time, she and her husband love adventuring with their daughters, traveling, and enjoying time with friends and family.
